It is reported that all districts that experienced an electricity blackout in
Kaliningrad Region for an hour on Thursday have been re-connected to the power
supply system.
Governor Mr Nikolai Tsukanov said that in Kalinigrad,
electricity supply to most users has been restored.
Mr Tsukanov said that
"All social institutions were promptly connected to reserve power sources, which
made it possible to avoid undesirable consequences. "
A company official
said that the Inter RAO Company has restored the supply of electiricity in
Kaliningrad Region resultant of reparative delivery of electricity from
Lithuania.
The company official added that power engineers are busy
finding out the cause of the blackout. Kaliningrad central heating and power
plant TETS-2 belonging to INTER RAO managed promptly to switch over to a reserve
diesel generator, which made it possible to avoid a damage of equipment.
Restorative operations are currently under way at the plant.
